A very good old entrepreneurial friend of ours is Peter Gestrup, CEO of Pretty Pegs, located in Stockholm, Sweden. Pretty Pegs very successfully sell add ons for IKEA furniture all around the globe. Peter and Pretty Pegs have obviously faced many of the same challenges the rest of us have during this period, social distancing making work life less dynamic and projects being cancelled or postponed with very short notice. Peter has graciously given us his three best tips for handling these challenges, all of them relevant for all kinds of businesses.
Walking-meeting agendas: Quite frankly, it's been boring sitting at home. We've lately tried to set specific discussion agendas that with more ease can be discussed at the same time as you are having a walk. It works well, and has turned into a weekly routine.
Turning inwards: Now, since many "regular"projects we had in pipeline have been cancelled or postponed, we've tried to turn the focus into ourselves a bit more. Trying to focus on stuff that is concerning the team, that we can control and improve today, not needing any external or third part services. We ended up re-doing our communication approach, and so far, one workshop concerning marketing communications was really rewarding.
Weekly snapshot of KPI’s: For making sure everyone is updated, we've set up a new weekly mail including KPI's, including classics but also new ones. Most of these metrics were randomly communicated IRL pre covid-19. It feels good to have a new way of sharing and communicating these key KPI's.
